The African American Studies Symposium committee and the College of Liberal and Fine Arts would like to invite you to this year’s event, “Black &Brown Futures”, on February 22, 2018. The symposium will feature keynote speaker Nalo Hopkinson. Hopkinson’s work holds an important place in the newly emerging and widely contested field of Caribbean queer studies and her teaching specialty is creative writing, with a focus on the literatures of the fantastic such as science fiction, fantasy and magical realism.
