Biography

Saeni Castillo is a Master’s student in Sociology. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her research areas include immigration, race/ethnicity, DACA, inequalities, social stratification, and higher education. Previously, Saeni was an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the CAPRI/Mexico Center. She Assisted the program coordinator on Foster Youth Independence Day Event which includes a total of 300 youth emancipating out of state care, she participated in organizing an inter-university Fulbright conference, worked in an academic paper to be published in a handbook on foster youth, helped prepare conference presentations for the grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, conducted interviews, analyzed responses from focus group interviews, and helped develop a proposal to the Mellon Foundation. She is currently the graduate research assistant for the UTSA Educational Research Training Program: P-20 Pipeline Issues were she assists the program coordinator.
