Sophia Ortiz directs the administrative operations of the UTSA Child and Adolescent Policy Research Institute (CAPRI). She is responsible for independent/discretionary management of all financial resources, contract and grant administration, academic and staff personnel, student programs, facilities, equipment management, and special programs. In addition she participates in planning, organizing, coordinating, staffing, and supervising various programs. She supervises the development and modification of contracts and grant proposals, oversees the monitoring of awards to ensure the appropriateness of expenditures and is responsible for managing resources to meet audit compliance criteria. She has been responsible for compliance with various regulations and reporting requirements including re-budgeting, and human subjects (IRB) on several grants with CAPRI. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
